Job Summary: Contract EMS Lab Assistants assist with hands on skills training during laboratory sessions for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) classes offered by and through the UC Davis Fire Department (UCDFD). Contract EMS Lab Assistants participate and assist Primary Instructors with the implementation and evaluation of students in the UCDFD EMS courses.
Physical Demands: Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Work Environment: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Work involves light exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of an EMS course for the disciplines in which the instructor is assisting.
Certification/Licensure CA licensure as EMT-Paramedic, EMT or other related medical license for EMS classes is required.
Knowledge of EMS skills practices and trends.
Skills to teach and facilitate hands-on skills training.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
Knowledge of the delivery of emergency medical services in the state of California.
Skill to assess student performance during skills sessions and provide appropriate feedback.
Skill to adhere to established standards for educational quality.
Skill to perform logistical needs such as inventory, clean, and restock EMS equipment and gear bags needed for EMS classes.
