Job Code: 4568 Job Grade: K The Stanford Center for Clinical Research (SCCR), in collaboration with the Stanford Departments of Medicine and Radiology, is conducting one of the largest, most innovative, longitudinal studies in association with a leading Silicon Valley tech company and multiple high-profile academic partners. SCCR is seeking to hire a Nurse Practitioner to support this exciting new study involving multiple disciplines, including cardiology, oncology and primary care.
SCCR provides infrastructure and research support to clinical research investigators and staff throughout the Department. Its mission is to promote high-quality, globally impactful clinical research to improve human health by working collaboratively within Stanford University and its affiliates.
The Nurse Practitioner will work in a dynamic atmosphere and as part of a large team in a supportive environment. The role will work with multiple staff members, including coordinators and research assistants, physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and ophthalmic technicians. The Nurse Practitioner will work with the Research Nurse Manager to oversee and conduct clinical assessments as part of the program. The NP will see multiple participants each day and will be responsible for reviewing safety events, clinical findings, and discussing results with participants. This role will be integral to the safety and engagement of participants in the program. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to proactively manage challenges, and strong attention to detail are required in a successful candidate.
Ensure the safety of study participants, and maintain communication with their families/caregivers and clinicians.
Provide clinical and administrative medical support and oversight for research clinical trials based on scope of practice; obtain complete study participant history, conduct physical assessments, review medical charts, assess findings, and perform designated procedures according to written protocols.
Review clinical test results such as CLIA labs, CAC scores, and EKG tests to determine clinical significance and provide follow-up recommendations.
Assess, grade, and document adverse events; apply triage and judgment to determine course of action.
Comply with institutional policies, standard operating procedures, and guidelines; prepare and submit documentation as required by the study protocol and study sponsor; interpret complex protocols and regulatory requirements.
Supervise and train non- clinical and clinical staff/students, as needed.
Identify, recruit, and enroll study participants, as well as maintain study participant records; determine study participant criteria.

Bachelor's degree in nursing and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Ability to provide work direction to research support staff.
Demonstrated understanding of good clinical practices and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated ability to perform the functions of the position with minimal supervision.
Verbal and written communication skills to convey medical and research-related information to research subjects of all ages and backgrounds.
Ability to identify confidential and sensitive information (written and verbal).
Ability to implement good clinical practices in all interactions with study participants, their families, and colleagues.
Ability to identify adverse reactions to study treatments and perform the required study protocol documentation to record these activities.
Ability to implement study protocols with minimal supervision.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the California State Board of Registered Nursing. Certified as Nurse Practitioner by the California State Board of Registered Nursing.
Current basic CPR certification.
Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, write by hand, and sort/file paperwork or parts.
Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), scrub/sweep/mop/chop/mix, operate a manual pipette.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid California non-commercial class license and operate vehicle during daylight hours.
