Position Summary: Under the direction of the Legal Information Services Manager, the Legal Operations Analyst applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of legal operations' business process and analysis practices, and organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. The Legal Operations unit is responsible for budget, technology portfolio, process improvement guidance, training, vendor management, knowledge management, legal practice support, program management, and analytics that enable UC Legal to continuously improve. The unit administers the legal technology road map and supports the Division's mission and strategic goals.
The Legal Operations Analyst's duties include user adoption via training, tier 1 support, and best practices documentation. Proactively gathers and articulates use cases and requirements, and proposes solutions. Maps and develops efficient and user-friendly workflows, demonstrating business process analysis and technical expertise. Responsible for data integrity, analytics and reporting within individual systems and across data sets. Strong communicator who builds easy rapport in-person and via remote communications, and successfully translates complex technical details to layperson.
UC Legal delivers ethical, timely, efficient, and high quality legal services to the University of California's ten campuses, five medical centers, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, as well as to the Board of Regents, the President, Chancellors, and other officers of the University. Identify, evaluate and define business practices and processes to define complex systems scope and objectives that align with legal operations' industry standards and end-user needs.
This includes the selection, development, implementation, and maintenance of various systems and software including enterprise legal management, document management, automated workflows, and eSignature.
Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing complex legal operations' procedures and technological support.
Recommends and implements changes in processes and procedures.
Creates complex specifications for systems to meet end-user requirements.
Plans and executes unit integration, mock-ups and acceptance testing.
Participates in cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues.
Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes business and user needs, documenting requirements and revising existing system and process logic issues as necessary.
Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for approval of business process and procedural documentation.
Negotiates with stakeholders on the creation of specifications.
Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Thorough knowledge of legal operations' business and process analysis functions.
Strong problem solving skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.
Focus on continuous improvement.
In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.

Master's or other professional degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Demonstrated experience in a legal operations' team, law firm, or other support of a legal team.
Broad experience with legal case management, ebilling, document management, eSignature, SharePoint, workflow tools, project management and data analysis tools.
Strong data analytics skills, including integrity analysis, reporting, visualization and modeling.
Translate data into actionable business insight.
Experience with system administration of cloud-based platforms.
Broad knowledge of legal hold and eDiscovery procedures and practices.
