Job Summary: Under supervision, work with mice, rats, rabbits, dogs, reptiles, birds, cats, horses and fish. Assist in active animal studies and the development and execution of high pace research studies. Responsibilities include keeping detailed record logs, taking sampling, providing animal restraint, administeingr IM anesthetics, participating in surgical preparation and anesthetic recovery. Perform medical dose calculations for drug administration. Responsibilities are completed under a strict timeline outlined by the lead Laboratory Manager on behalf of the Principal investigator.
Work Environment: Available no less than 20 hours a week Monday-Friday and available full time Saturday and Sunday when required. This position is subject to Medical Surveillance procedures and review in accordance with Federal and State Laws and Regulations and University Policy.

Minimum Qualifications: Technical skills working with animals in a veterinary research or clinical environment. Knowledge of animal behavior. General laboratory safety practices. Extensive experience with veterinary research procedures and safety procedures while working with needles, blades and anesthetics. Skills to follow animal research protocols and stay within compliance of IACUC guidelines. Skills to work individually and as a team.
Preferred Qualifications: Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT) or equivalent experience. Experience working with client owned or research rabbits. Experience working with administering ocular medications and administering IM and SC medications.
