The Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance at The College at Brockport, State University of New York invites applications for two tenure-track positions in accounting at the Assistant Professor level beginning fall 2020.
Major Responsibilities Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses consistent with the candidate's academic preparation and professional experience. Candidates will be required to teach courses consistent with the needs of the department's programs, including tax, auditing, financial accounting, managerial accounting, accounting information systems, and forensic accounting. The successful candidates will also engage in scholarly activity, student advisement and recruitment activities and participate in service to the department, school and college.
Ph.D. or DBA in Accounting by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university. ABD candidates must earn their doctoral degree within 6 months of hire; qualified as Scholarly Academic under AACSB criteria. Scholarly potential in accounting demonstrated by publications or high-quality work in progress and strong research plan. Ability to teach in a multi-cultural environment. Strong work ethic & commitment to continuous improvement. Demonstrable potential for, and experience in, effectively teaching graduate and undergraduate-level accounting courses. Interest in teaching in the area of audit/financial accounting or forensic/fraud accounting.
Doctorate degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university. Experience with, or willingness to teach audit, financial accounting, forensic or fraud related courses. CPA, CFE, CMA or other professional accounting certification. Experience with, or willingness to teach in an online course modality and/or in a hybrid course format. Degree in hand by August 2020.
Department Description The Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance is a collegial group of twelve full-time and about eight part-time faculty representing the three disciplines. The group is a combination of vibrant untenured and tenured scholars. Our research has been published in many prestigious journals and we have won numerous awards for our teaching and scholarship, including the prestigious SUNY Chancellor's award for Excellence in Teaching and Excellence in Scholarship. We believe in shared governance and collective decision making.
