This position provides data management, analytic and statistical oversight and support for various research and evaluation projects. The individual is responsible for: 1) providing statistical and methodological guidance during the conceptualization of study designs; 2) leading statistical components of multiple evaluation and research projects; 3) overseeing the collection of data; 4) planning and conducting analyses of the datasets and interpreting and presenting findings; and 5) supervising statistical staff. The analyst will work independently with mentoring from senior staff and statisticians, and in collaboration with project and methodological staff.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide statistical and methodological guidance for ongoing projects with the PI. Lead the statistical and analytic components of several evaluation and research projects. Provide statistical and methodological guidance for designing research studies and products. Oversee data management activities, analyze datasets, and interpret and report findings. Assist in developing publication materials including reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals.
Provide statistical and methodological guidance in the context of technical assistance from the Center for Health Economics and Policy (CHEP) to other faculty members, with a particular focus on appropriate use of data to answer important economic and policy questions. Assist in grant writing for the same purpose, and in dissemination of policy-relevant findings as CHEP policy briefs.
Assist in developing and maintaining a CHEP data core dedicated to economic and policy data, in conjunction with peers within the Institute for Public Health and Institute for Informatics.
Mentor, train, and supervise (as needed) other staff on statistical methods and analyses.
Equivalent of Bachelor’s degree.
Master’s preferred in statistics, computer science or related field.
3 to 5 years related experience.
Master’s degree and four years of related work experience in health services research, public health, computer science, biostatistics, informatics, or related field.
Proficiency with SAS, Stata, and/or R.
Doctoral degree in health services research, public health, computer science, biostatistics, informatics, or related field.
Experience with manipulation and analysis of large datasets, including claims and area-level data.
Demonstrated interest in health policy research.
Ability to learn and independently perform new applications and procedures.
Strong analytic skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in editing, record-keeping, etc.
Experience conducting inferential data analyses and developing appropriate graphical displays of data for manuscripts, reports, and presentations.
Ability to verbally communicate complex issues with clarity to different types of audiences (e.g., academic, community).
Ability to collaborate with others, working independently and with team members, including students, staff and faculty.
The hiring range for this position is $56,472 - $73,403 annually.
