Primary Purpose: The Head of Digital Media Innovation advances team-based digital initiatives that engage students, cross disciplines, and connect communities through production and promotion of original multimedia content in the Innovation Commons of University Libraries at University of the Pacific. This digital service supports using virtual reality, 3-D printing, 360 video, and other technologies for learning and teaching. The Head works closely with the Associate University Librarian for Organizational Innovation to further curriculum integrated digital initiatives and generate high impact campus partnerships, including but not limited to consulting with academic faculty on technology choices, processes, and tools for discipline based projects.
Within University Libraries, the Head of Digital Media Innovation works across departments and teams, contributing to digital strategies and advancing collective capacities, of benefit to faculty, staff, and students at the University's three campuses, in Stockton, Sacramento, and San Francisco. At the Stockton campus, the Head supervises the Innovation Space Coordinator, who shares responsibility for evaluating and integrating existing software tools and designing and implementing new forward thinking solutions.
Essential Functions: 1. Design innovative and creative course integrated projects, using university collections and local resources, in collaboration with academic faculty and instructional designers.
2. Design multi-course, cross-disciplinary digital projects of high value to the University and to University Libraries, to advance student participants learning outcomes and faculty supervisors teaching efficacy.
3. Explore existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning across academic disciplines and at all levels from undergraduates to graduate students to faculty.
4. Create Digital Asset Archive of custom digital models and/or modifiable online assets to support future course-based projects, hosted in the Universitys Scholarly Commons.
5. Supervise Innovation Spaces Coordinator, student interns, and work study students.
6. Advise and train students, faculty, and staff on multimedia tools and techniques.
7. Provide technical expertise, recommend best practices, and facilitate digitization projects and digital exhibits.
8. Design and deliver digital pedagogy workshops.
Experience with at least one of the following methodologies: VR/AR development, 3D modeling, 3D printing and fabrication.
Two years of experience developing collaborative digital media projects.
Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
Experience developing dynamic and interactive media, and/or interactive scholarly works for multiple devices.
Experience exploring, evaluating and experimenting with new learning techniques and technologies.
Working knowledge of AR/VR/MR development platforms, web publishing, and 3D technologies.
Demonstrated success contributing to team success, including progressive leadership and management responsibilities.
Experience with content creation made visible through open access and SEO strategies.
Demonstrated capacity to work well in an inclusive and multicultural setting.
Demonstrated deep commitment to supporting and promoting diversity.
Ability to manage time and coordinate projects in a rapidly changing environment.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work is performed in a standard office environment. Evening and weekend work is required. Events, workshops, and three campuses/cities travel will comprise approximately 30% of the workload.
