We seek a motivated Senior Technician to join a research team whose goal is to improve the lives of cancer patients through innovation. The technician will support studies in the interactions of immunity and cancer evolution, metastasis and drug resistance.
The laboratory uses cutting-edge technologies, including single-cell genomics, integrated CRISPR screens with single-cell readouts, and highly-multiplexed imaging, among other technologies. We work with tissue from cancer patients, cell line models and mouse models of cancer biology and cancer immunotherapy, and continue the development of novel technologies in the lab.
Process tissue samples from preclinical animal models and patients, including cryopreservation, cell fractionation using FACS or MACS, and extraction of nucleic acids and/or proteins.
Responsible for preparation and maintenance of basic dry and wet chemicals and other common laboratory reagents.
Perform extraction of nucleic acids and proteins from biologic specimens.
Perform conventional PCR, quantitative RT-PCR, and immunoblotting.
Responsible for maintenance of cell lines and primary cells in tissue culture.
Perform in vitro therapeutic studies in cell lines and primary samples, including in vitro proliferation and metabolic luminescence assays.
Perform fluorescence- and magnetic-activated cell sorting (FACS and MACS, respectively).
Perform generation of high-throughput single-cell sequencing libraries from DNA and RNA specimens
Responsible for mouse colony management.
Assist with high-content imaging and multiplexed immunofluorescence imaging on specialized equipment.
Maintain detailed records of laboratory work and communicate results over shared electronic communications platforms.
Order reagents for the laboratory based on recognized need and requests from other lab members.
Order, and assist with operation and maintenance of common laboratory equipment.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience
Eager to learn, flexible, highly organized
Excellent communication and record-keeping abilities
The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
Participation in the medical surveillance program
Work with laboratory animals
Successful completion of applicable systems training requirements
