Job Description: The Ramani Lab at UCSF is looking to hire a junior research specialist to assist with research in the lab. The Ramani Lab is interested in developing and applying novel genome and transcriptome sequencing technologies to study transcriptional regulation at genomic scale. Our lab employs cutting-edge sequencing approaches to better understand how chromosome structure, chromosome accessibility, and transcriptional programs vary as a function of diverse cellular inputs such as metabolic stress. The junior specialist will specifically be involved in projects applying single-cell sequencing and other high-throughput sequencing methods to study the effects of chemical, metabolic, and genetic perturbations on cellular regulatory programs. Candidates should have previous molecular biological experience, strong organizational & communication skills, and be capable of working independently. A 2?year commitment will be preferred.
Job Responsibilities: The junior specialist will be responsible for carrying out diverse experiments to support the Ramani Lab’s goal of comprehensively characterizing the regulatory consequences of genetically & metabolically perturbing cell culture models, using high-throughput single-cell sequencing assays as a read-out. As such, the junior specialist will be responsible for the sterile culture of mammalian cells, for carrying out high-throughput sequencing experiments, and for operating an Illumina high-throughput sequencer. The junior specialist will also be expected to assist with ordering reagents, aiding with lab organization, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements: • B.S./B.A. degree in a relevant field at the time of hire, and previous molecular biology laboratory experience
• A degree maybe in process at the time of application submission, however, the degree must be processed by the appointment effective date.
Preferred Qualifications: • Laboratory experience in at least one of the following areas: cell culture, high-throughput sequencing, CRISPR-Cas9-mediated genome editing / construction of transgenic cell lines.
