Come be a part of the Mechanical Instrumentation Shop in Biomedical Engineering!
We design, fabricate, produce, and maintain a full range of products and devices to support MSKCCs advanced treatment of cancer. We support a wide array of clinical and research services throughout the hospital. This includes patient-specific treatment devices, surgical instruments, support machinery, experimental setups, calibration equipment, radiation shielding, therapeutic hardware, and many more applications.
We consist of a group of engineers, machinists/fabricators and technicians with a full suite of mechanical engineering capabilities and on-site production. The facilities include a machine shop (CNC and manual mills, lathes etc), hand-fabrication tools, and a 3D-printing lab.
The Biomedical Equipment Technician will primarily fabricate patient-specific medical devices as well as a range of mechanical instruments.
We also encourage contributing to the design and implementation of the devices we produce.
Additionally, you will train and serve as a contributing member of our clinical operations in the Block Shop and Foam Immobilization Shop.
These shops are part of the Mechanical Instrumentation group and produce patient-specific treatment devices for radiation therapy. This will include fabricating custom-made radiation shields and patient immobilization devices.
