The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the universitys missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. This position is for Program Director of the Advanced Education Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; experience in oncologic and head and neck surgery is preferred.
This position reports to (supervisor): Dr. James Katancik, Interim Chair
The duties of this position include:
Serve as Director of the OMS Advanced Education Program, developing and leading the educational and clinical activities of OMS residents, and interns, to establish and maintain policies and procedures consistent with CODA, OHSU GME, SOD and SOM, to maintain and prepare documentation for CODA site visit and ADA annual surveys, and to follow and fulfill OHSU compliance requirements. Participate in administrative committees and councils of the School of Dentistry and OHSU.
Clinical responsibilities will primarily be the treatment of head and neck cancer patients and microvascular reconstruction as a member Oncologic and Head and Neck Surgery Service, part of OHSU Hospital Dental Services Unit. This will include seeing new cancer and/or microvascular reconstruction patients in the Hospital Dental Services Clinic and conducting surgeries cases in the OR.
D.D.S. or D.M.D. from a CODA accredited school or equivalent
Completion of advanced education program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from a CODA accredited program
Certified or actively seeking certification by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Ability to obtain Oregon Dental License
Ability to obtain Oregon general anesthesia permit
M.D. is preferred
Experience in oncologic and head and neck surgery preferred
Experience in teaching, research, service, patient care, and academic management, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills are preferred
