Theater Arts: Visiting Assistant Professor Pool (Ongoing)
The Theater Arts Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of visiting assistant professors. Candidates should have expertise and a national or international profile in one or more of the following areas: drama, dance, and design and technology. Visiting assistant professors are expected to engage in research or other creative activity, teaching, and university and public service. The successful candidate will be expected to serve as a full member of the Theater Arts Department, and must be able to work with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. We seek experienced, accomplished artists/scholars preferably with teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and/or service.
ACADEMIC TITLE Visiting Assistant Professor
SALARY Commensurate with qualifications and experience and the particular courses the visiting assistant professor is appointed to teach. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS M.F.A. or higher (or equivalent foreign degree) in theater arts or in a related field at the time of application, or six years of equivalent professional experience with a record of performances and exhibitions in theater venues or alternative venues engaging the general public, and evidence of scholarship in peer-reviewed journals, web and/or book publications at the time of application.
POSITION AVAILABLE Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's need and the availability of funding. Initial appointments will be full-time, with the possibility of reappointment. A review to assess performance will be conducted if a reappointment is to be proposed.
