The Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified, part-time or full-time, temporary, non-tenure track lecturers to teach a range of physics courses, should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of available positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Positions may range from 17% to 100% time.
We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach small, medium, and large size undergraduate lower and/or upper-division lecture, seminar and/or laboratory courses in Physics. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include: holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), creating and grading exams and homework, and using a learning management system (e.g. bCourses) and/or maintaining a course website.
Basic qualifications: must have an advanced degree or be enrolled in an advanced degree program at the time of application.
Additional qualifications (by start date): Completion of Master's degree or an equivalent international degree. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent international degree in Physics or a related field in the Physical Sciences (Astrophysics, Engineering Physics, Mathematics), and one year of college-level teaching experience are preferred.
Minimum starting annual full-time (100%) salary rate is based on an academic year salary of $56,381. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is in a represented bargaining unit.

Appointments for fall semester are usually reviewed in April/May; for spring semester in October/November; and in April/May for summer session. The pool will close on April 6, 2021; if you would like to continue to be considered after that time you will need to submit a new application.
