The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a leader in the Division of Adolescent Medicine. This individual will serve as Project Director for the Maternal Child Health (MCH) and Pediatric Nutrition Training Program.
The Project Director must be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with an earned Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, EdD) in Nutrition Science, Public Health Nutrition or other related Nutrition field. The Project Director must meet hiring qualifications at the level of Associate Professor or Professor commensurate with experience and have demonstrated leadership in MCH and Pediatric Nutrition, expertise and experience in post-graduate level teaching and conduct of scholarly research. The ideal candidate should have experience and clinical competency in pediatric nutrition. It is also desired that they have experience in community-based service programs that provide population-based care and in integrating nutrition services in systems of care.
The Project Director with the Core Faculty have primary responsibility for planning, designing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating all training and service elements of the overall MCH Nutrition Training Program. These responsibilities include definition of appropriate criteria for recruitment of trainees and joint selection of such trainees with the appropriate academic school/ department, and/or training director/committee.
The Division of Adolescent Medicine has a long history of outstanding clinical programs, innovative education and research, and community engagement. Our goal is to remain a nationally recognized program that transforms health outcomes and develops leaders in pediatric nutrition. We plan to continue and expand our current research portfolio and strengthen our training program through partnerships with local, regional and national partners as we strive to provide outstanding health care for the children of Alabama and the surrounding areas.
The position is a full-time regular, twelve-month faculty appointment with corresponding administrative responsibilities. Rank, salary and tenure status is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and leadership. An appointment in the Department of Nutrition Sciences may be available to eligible faculty.
