About the Opportunity: A postdoctoral position is available to work in cancer imaging and therapeutics with projects in pancreatic, brain and ovarian cancer. The focus is on developing molecular-targeted therapies with image-guided treatment being a central component, including the development and application of novel microendoscopy technologies. Primary research goals of the Spring Lab include development of a precision photomedicine platform to target advanced stage chemoresistant cancers, as well as development of miniature, hyperspectral endoscopic imaging methods for multiplexed monitoring of the tumor-immune microenvironment. This opportunity will support career growth and will encompass learning a large number of biological and optical techniques as well as publication and grant writing. Candidates must be energetic, self-motivated and capable of multitasking, and will work collaboratively with biologists and clinical collaborators in a multidisciplinary environment. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the maintenance and oversight of 2D, 3D, and primary cell culture lines, running appropriate assays to determine cell viability, biomarker expression, and photomedicine research protocols in the cancer biology lab. The goal of this research will be to uncover and track biomarkers of cancer chemoresistance using several biological models.
Qualifications: PhD in Biophysics, Applied Physics, Cancer Biology or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred experience with photodynamic therapy and translational medical research. Familiarity with flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy or other biomedical imaging techniques a plus.
Salary Grade 10
Additional Information: The position will allow for independent research in an intellectually stimulating environment in the brand new, state-of-the-art Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) at Northeastern University's Boston Campus. Access to the newly established Institute for Chemical Imaging of Living Systems with several state-of-the-art microscopes is available.
