The Department of American Studies anticipates an appointment in Asian American Studies at the rank of tenured Associate Professor or full Professor. We are looking for a scholar whose work addresses the complex historical experiences of Asian peoples in North America. Scholarship should center on the United States but may also engage the rest of the hemisphere in comparative and transnational approaches. Our search is inclusive of South East Asian and South Asian communities, Critical Refugee Studies, and Comparative and Relational Ethnic Studies. It is open to all methodologies, subfields and periods after 1800, though there is a preference for research and teaching that are interdisciplinary and engage with social justice, transnationalism, colonialism, and empire. A commitment to public scholarship, broadly conceived, is especially welcome.
The position start date is July 1, 2022.
