The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work (UMSSW) is currently seeking a 10-month, full-time Clinical Instructor position who will function as a Faculty Field Instructor for bachelor's and master's degree social work students who are participating in its Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program. The position will be primarily stationed at the Prince George's County Department of Social Services in Landover, Maryland. The Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program at the University of Maryland School of Social Work is a partnership with the Maryland Department of Human Services successfully preparing BSW and MSW social work students for social work practice with families and children in Maryland's public child welfare programs for over twenty years. The program strives, through required academic courses, field education assignments, and targeted child welfare training experiences, to impact state's achievement of core outcomes of public child welfare services programs of child safety, permanency of family relationships, and child and family well-being. The Program is seeking a social work educator with a commitment to public child welfare practice and social work education to join our creative and committed team of social work field educators.
* Assess the field education learning needs of assigned students, develop field education learning activities, and assess students' achievement of Social Work knowledge, skill, and value competencies and practice behaviors as described in the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) 2015 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.
* Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-oppression concepts and issues, especially as they apply to field education in a public child welfare agency
* Using an equity, inclusion and anti-racist lens, provides individual and group field education sessions to assigned BSW and MSW social work students for a minimum of one hour per week, per student during the field education placement based on the BSW/Foundation, Advanced Clinical, and Advanced Macro Field Education syllabi and Maryland's child welfare pre-service competencies.
* Utilizing the UMSSW Electronic Field Notebook and the UMBC Intern Placement Tracking software system, develop learning agreements, provide detailed feedback on process recordings, and submit mid-semester and semester evaluations of student progress in a timely manner.
* Seeks to recruit a diverse pool of Title IV-E BSW and MSW applicants by participating in the selection of Title IV-E BSW and MSW applicants.
* Incorporate learning objectives of UMSSW courses into supervision and field instruction conferences with students to support integration of social work theories with practice.
* Work collaboratively with Local Department of Social Services' administrators, supervisors, and social work staff to recruit task supervisors for the field education team, identify appropriate learning activities and assignments, incorporate Maryland child welfare practices, (for example, Maryland's Integrated Practice Model) incorporate equitable and inclusive child welfare practices as well as other initiatives into field education. This consists of jointly choosing field education assignments, consulting on field education progress and achievement of social work competencies, and addressing any agency concerns regarding students' practice behaviors.
* Participate in select agency activities, meetings and trainings, which pertain to students' field experiences.
* Using instructional technology, plan and deliver monthly child welfare field education seminars, based on Maryland's child welfare pre-service training curriculum.
* Participate in the planning and delivery of child welfare training to Title IV-E students including program and field education orientations, motivational interviewing, trauma informed child welfare practice, and child welfare and the court training programs.
* Learn and Implement "Live Supervision" training model.
* Participate in monthly Title IV-E faculty meetings, program evaluation, program development and other program and faculty meetings held at UMSSW.
* Participate in presentations on Title IV-E, motivational interviewing, child welfare, diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism and/or field education at national and local professional conferences and meetings.
* Other duties as are appropriate and assigned.

Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited SSW is Required
Current LCSW-C or equivalent Clinical License in Social Work is Required
A minimum of five years Post-Masters Social Work Practice Experience; with at least three years' experience in Public Child Welfare is Required
Excellent clinical and teaching skills are Required
Ability to use technology to provide instruction and supervision (Primarily Zoom, Google Meets and WebEx) is Required
Ability to learn and manage the UMB's Electronic Field Notebook, UMBC's Intern Placement Tracking System and Blackboard is Required
Passing Score on Maryland's Child Welfare Competency Test within six months of hire is Required
Experience providing Field Instruction is Highly Desired
Experience providing Social Work Supervision, Teaching, or Training is Highly Desired
Availability for summer work on specific tasks, field instruction or training development is Highly Desired
Knowledge of Maryland's child welfare practice models, motivational interviewing, and child welfare trauma interventions are Highly Desired. Excellent written and oral communication skills is Highly Desired.
Knowledge of Federal Child Welfare Outcome goals, best practices, and evidence-based interventions is Desired.
Amount of Travel and any other special conditions or requirements In-state travel required to observe students in the field and to attend events and trainings at UMSSW in Baltimore.
