We are searching for an experienced Temporary Clerical at our Santa Maria Campus facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Allan Hancock College is currently accepting applications to establish a pool for current and future clerical positions.
Knowledge of: office management techniques and organizational skills; written business communications; various data bases; word/information processing applications and production; records management; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; formatting; and office methods, procedures, and equipment, including filing systems, and receptionist and telephone techniques.
Ability to: communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; develop and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work; understand and carry out oral and written directions; work independently, organize work load, and establish priorities; learn and interpret specific rules, procedures, regulations, and policies, and apply them with good judgment in a variety of procedural situations; operates a word processor and computer terminal with speed and accuracy; and establish and maintain office records and files.
Education and Experience: An equivalent to a high school diploma and two years of increasingly responsible clerical experience OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Salary: Dependent upon education, experience, and specific assignment.
The regular work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday. However, schedule may change per district need.
Primary Duties: Each clerical/administrative assistant is required to use a computer terminal to input and retrieve data with speed and accuracy. Position may also require the incumbent to compile and audit reports for inconsistencies; prepare bulletins, letters, memos, and other written materials/documents with speed and accuracy; distribute items on campus; set up and maintain files; process/update materials; answer incoming telephone calls; receive the public, staff, and students; and performs other related duties as assigned.
