Description: The Gladstone Institute of Data Science & Biotechnology and the UCSF Department of Bioengineering & Therapeutic Sciences is seeking to recruit an innovative scientist working at the cutting edge of biotechnology. Appointments will be made at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. This individual would join a dynamic and collaborative research community of basic scientists, engineers, data scientists, and disease experts. Candidates finishing their postdoctoral research are encouraged to apply.
Ideal candidates will lead a research program aimed at developing new molecular biotechnology with applications in human disease. Research that falls outside of or cuts across traditional disciplines is welcomed. We are especially seeking colleagues who are excited about drawing inspiration from the work of neighboring disease experts and data scientists and putting their technology into practice though collaborations.
Candidates will be expected to run an experimental lab, and may also have a computational component to their research program. They will be expected to develop extramurally sponsored research programs and to be committed to mentoring graduate students and postdocs. Demonstrated commitment to mentoring students from groups that are historically underrepresented in biomedical science is valued.
