Dept Marketing Statement Audit & Management Advisory Services (AMAS) is an independent and objective internal audit function with dual reporting to the Regents, through the UC SVP Compliance and Audit Officer; and to the Chancellor through the Vice Chancellor of Business and Administrative Services, with information and assurances on campus governance, risk management and internal control activities and processes.
AMAS provides a critical assessment, monitoring, and consultative role; assisting the chancellor and senior management in the discharge of their oversight, management, and operating responsibilities; and is an integral part of the University's shared governance structure.
Involves auditing for compliance with laws, policies, and good business practices, reporting findings and making recommendations to implement improvements. Evaluates the adequacy of internal controls; the effectiveness of policies and procedures; searches for value-added recommendations to improve the efficiency and contribution of the function under review.
Performs the full scope of auditing encompassing financial, compliance, information systems, and effectiveness reviews according to professional auditing standards. Normally receives general instructions on routine audit work with detailed instruction on new or more complex audit assignments. May provide functional advice, training and / or guidance to less-experienced audit professionals.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary Information: $70,000 - $87,500 annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

Job Duties 25% Independently performs audits and management advisory service projects at all levels of complexity. Involves preliminary survey and risk assessment activities. With guidance, designs audit programs to accomplish review objectives.
25% Conducts testing based on approved audit programs of moderate to high complexity, which may include tests of the financial and operating system processes, to identify internal control weaknesses and audit findings.
15% Develops formal written reports to communicate audit results to campus management, and makes recommendations as appropriate.
5% May participate in investigations and assist with evaluation of allegations, including improper government acts. Follows up on management corrective actions to ensure completion.
5% May be responsible for external audit liaison duties: coordinates external agency information requests and site visits; analyzes documentation to identify potential risk areas.
10% Follows up on management corrective actions to ensure completion.
10% Participates on-campus workgroups and committees, and provides advice and counsel as requested in areas of campus governance, risk management and control processes.
5% Supervises and trains student interns as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Thorough knowledge of the audit profession, theories and systems of internal control, and professional auditing standards
Broad knowledge of finance, accounting, business and systems operations
Gathers, organizes and performs analysis for moderately complex audit assignments. Is working on mastering more advanced audit concepts and applications in the completion of assignments
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to present sensitive information with diplomacy and in a clear and concise manner. Presents to a wide variety of audiences, including senior management and external agencies
May require specialized expertise in enterprise software and relational databases
Experience identifying and evaluating risks and controls over business objectives, conducting project risk assessments, assessing residual risk conditions, and developing audit programs
Experience interpreting a variety of complex policies, procedures, regulations, laws, and contracts
Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking to a variety of topics and experience developing creative ways to address complex problems
Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of staff and management.
Strong knowledge of and experience assessing governance, risk management, and internal control activities
