Overview A lab assistant or research assistant performing cutting edge, interdisciplinary research in a laboratory investigating the effects of dietary carbohydrates and fats on metabolic processes involved in the development of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The position will primarily involve processing of biological samples collected from clinical research studies, under the supervision of laboratory scientists. Standard biochemical techniques are used including thin-layer chromatography and derivatization of samples for mass spectrometry analysis.
Responsibilities The lab/research assistant will be responsible for preparation and processing of clinical research samples as well as general lab maintenance as directed by lab manager.
A minimum of a BS or BA in biochemistry or one of the biosciences and one year laboratory experience or a MS in biochemistry or one of the biosciences. Ability to work with general guidance, strong organizational ability, strong analytical skills, ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines, general computer skills and ability to use Microsoft office.
Candidates who are able to commit 18+ months for the position are strongly preferred.
