Dept Marketing Statement Student Health Services (SHS) is a full service medical facility offering clinical, educational, and psychological services to students on the UCSC campus.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides a variety of mental health and psychological services to UC Santa Cruz undergraduate and graduate students, including brief individual and group therapy, psychoeducational workshops, crisis intervention, outreach programming, online services, and consultation, to support student's academic success and well-being.
The Licensed Psychologist reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and is assigned duties by the Director as specified herein. The Licensed Psychologist will provide high quality clinical services; community psychology/outreach and consultation services; and may provide supervision/training of doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows. All CAPS staff are expected to have awareness, knowledge, and skills to effectively provide professional service to a diverse student body.
All the Licensed Psychologist's activities are performed within the limits of standards and ethical principles of the California Board of Psychology, as well as, applicable legal mandates for mental health professionals in the State of California.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary Information:
$7,202.79 - $9,694.36 / Monthly for 11 months; salary commensurate with relevant licensed experience Please note: The one month non-work period is unpaid time off with health benefits retained.
Provides brief counseling and psychotherapy with undergraduate and graduate students (individuals and couples) with a broad range of psychological problems.
Provides crisis assessment and crisis intervention.
Provides case management and referral services.
Conducts group counseling and psychoeducational sessions.
Consults with students, faculty, and staff regarding issues that affect the developmental and psychological well-being of students in the university community.
Determines the need for other professional interventions and refers as necessary.
Provides supervision and training of doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows as needed.
All licensed staff will provide consultation for the After Hours Crisis Service as scheduled.
Other duties, as assigned.
40% - Indirect Service
Functions as a community psychologist and a consultant to faculty, staff, residential life staff, and other units on campus regarding student concerns and student distress (i.e. anxiety, stress, depression due to academic life, suicidality, substance abuse, identity development, interpersonal issues, values clarification and goal setting), enhancing the psychological well-being of the campus community.
Develops and implements outreach programs, trainings, class presentations.
Participates regularly in a cooperative and professional manner in efforts to maintain and upgrade the quality of service of the CAPS unit by participating in CAPS committees and collaborating with other licensed psychotherapists, college administrators and staff, and faculty in program development, committee work, and consultation.
Consults with psychiatrists, physicians, and off-campus mental health professionals, social agencies, campus entities and community resources regarding students and/or mental health issues.
Promotes a safe and healthy work place and effectively responds to injuries that occur.
Other duties, as assigned.
Valid California licensure, in good standing, in Psychology OR Valid Out-of-State licensure, in good standing, in Psychology
Demonstrated clinical experience with individuals using a brief therapy model
Demonstrated strong clinical and crisis management skills, including ability to work with high acuity students with complex mental health needs
Experience facilitating psychotherapeutic and psycho-educational groups
Experience designing and implementing multiculturally sensitive outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops
Demonstrated multicultural competence in mental health service provision. Knowledge of how race, ethnic identity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, privilege and multiculturalism relate to psychological service delivery in a university setting
Demonstrated expertise with developmental issues of late adolescence
Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and to effectively collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to be an effective team member, and evidence of professional behavior
Strong planning and organizational skills
The ability to follow, implement, encourage others to follow the UCSC Principles of Community
