Overview Under the direction of the Master of Science in Medical Health Sciences (MSMHS) Program Director, the Student Success Coordinator is responsible for assisting in designing, delivering, and coordinating learning strategies for MSMHS students who face academic challenges. This individual will also assist in the program's admissions process and will offer career advising. The Coordinator must be results oriented and organized with attention to detail. This position must collaborate with the Student Affairs Student Success Office to offer individual assistance and resources designed to enhance the academic and career success of students.
Responsibilities Recurring Tasks:
Identify the academic support and developmental needs of MSMHS students and serve as an advocate for an inclusive learning environments.
Design individualized student study strategies and learning plans to help students to academically succeed. Monitor and follow up on individual students academic improvement plan progress.
Provide individual career counseling and group presentations to students on self-assessment, career exploration, interview preparations, and job/residency search strategies including resume writing and interviewing skills.
Coordinate the development, design, and implementation initiatives that support student success such as programs, services, and workshops. Schedule classroom visits and conduct presentations, as needed each semester.
Consult with individual faculty who want advice on working with students who experience academic difficulties.
Collaborate with academic program representatives on programmatic student academic success needs.
Collaborate on the program admissions process and support student applicants and the transition into a graduate program of study.
Participate in university major events such as, but not limited to, new student orientation, white coat ceremony, and commencement.
Masters degree required in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Career counseling, Education, or related field.
Experience and enthusiasm in working with a diverse student, staff, and faculty population
Ability to work independently or collaboratively as the situation demands; managing competing priorities in a professional and positive manner.
Experience working with graduate and/or first professional degree students is desired
Must have in-depth knowledge of Academic Support and/or Career Counseling practices.
Ability to create and maintain collaborative and productive work relationships
Ability to implement successful practices in career services and professional development.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficient with various computer office applications and programs.
