The UC Davis School of Medicine, Department of Radiology is currently seeking qualified candidates for Cardiothoracic Imaging in the Professor of Clinical 'X' Series and Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series, at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor rank (commensurate with experience and credentials). A qualified candidate may also be nominated for the administrative role as Section Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging. Expertise in all aspects of cardiovascular and thoracic imaging is essential.
Criteria for the Professor of Clinical 'X' Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is essential criteria for appointment in this series. Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
Candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O. degree. The applicant must be fellowship trained in Cardiothoracic Imaging and have a documented interest in research and teaching with excellent track record in scholarly activities. Candidates must be board-certified in diagnostic radiology and be licensed or be eligible for full licensure in the State of California.
The candidates will be involved in interpreting chest radiographs, cardiothoracic CT and MR, and vascular CTA and MRA. The candidates will be expected to participate in multidisciplinary meetings with cardio-pulmonary medicine, infectious disease, and pediatric cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery. Participation in week night and weekend calls in rotation with other cardiothoracic section members is expected. The department has state-of- the- art equipment including clinical 3T and 1.5T MRI scanners. The cardiothoracic section at UCD may provide cross-sectional interventional service.
A qualified candidate may also be nominated for the administrative role as the Section Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging. To be given consideration for this administrative role, demonstrated experience in clinical operations and strong interest in mentorship, research and teaching is required. The successful candidate will be a leader in the field with a reputation in academic leadership and clinical excellence. The applicant will report directly to the Chair of Radiology and will be a member of the departmental leadership team. The section chief will participate in departmental strategic planning and operations. Within the cardiothoracic section, the Chief will oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of the section, mentor faculty, promote research, coordinate educational programs and work collaboratively with other faculty and section chiefs.
