The Cornell Health Nursing Department focuses on the health and well-being of the students in order for them to achieve academic, work, and life success. This is done through collaboration with all departments within Cornell Health to foster lifelong learning and well-being through innovative services and strategies that promote the physical, emotional, and social health of individuals and our diverse campus community.

Cornell Health is hiring for multiple temporary nursing positions, and is looking to hire Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to provide support to the clinical staff by preparing the patient for the appointment, assisting during the procedure or examination if required, and cleaning the exam room. In addition, LPNs/CMAs perform a variety of nursing functions dependent on the role, providing patients with instructions upon discharge on the use of any medical equipment and/or medications per clinician order, serving as a patient navigator, and performing diagnostic testing. These roles are crucial to maintain smooth clinic flow for Cornell Health. These positions are considered an Essential Employee; those needed on campus to meet the needs of students, research programs, or general operations when the university is in reduced operating status or closed. These positions are OSHA category BBP1; TB1; ERG2.

Please note: These positions are temporary jobs, with an anticipated start date in mid-January 2021 and ending at the end of May 2021. Preference is for full-time availability, with the minimum being 20 hours per week. There is no visa sponsorship available for these positions.

• The ability to elicit and discuss personal information in a non-judgmental manner, as well as follow all Federal HIPAA guidelines and NY State laws regarding patient confidentiality.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Medical Assistant OR Current New York State LPN license with two years of recent experience in an ambulatory care/clinic setting.
• Experience working with an electronic health record management system.
• CPR-BLS certification required within one year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an integrated ambulatory health care environment
• Experience working in a college health or adolescent setting, or with a diverse patient population.
• Proficiency in language(s) in addition to English.
