UCOP Human Resources is dedicated to serving and supporting staff, and to building a work environment where employees feel involved and empowered to offer their best. Our HR Business Partners are assigned by department and provide guidance regarding all local HR services. Other staff units cover benefits, disability and leave, talent acquisition and employment, learning and development, and compensation.
Reporting to the Accommodation and Leave Manager, this position will write and/or edit correspondence/communication on behalf of the Accommodation and Leave Manager and other local human resources staff with analytical tasks and day-to-day operations. The incumbent will fully analyze issues and problems, track and coordinate follow-up with employee leave requests, gathers data and information, finds and evaluates alternatives and makes sound recommendations. Must possess interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively with staff.
Will conduct a variety of analytical duties in support of accommodation and leave requests in support of these efforts, including: 1) gathering and assembling analytical and factual data; 2) using subject matter knowledge to prepare information for use of high level communication and/or meetings; 3) preparing, editing and modifying leave requests, presentations, reports, and proposals and 4) applying professional concepts to perform analysis of data and systems pertaining to moderately complex projects, policies and/or processes and functions.
Develop recommendations and policy positions for the Accommodation and Leave Manager.
Recommends and implements actions as needed to improve processes and protocol regarding policy coordination.
Administrative support including meeting scheduling, note taking, and fast tracking and management.
Documents, tracks, and generates reports on existing or new requirements using spreadsheets.
On a project basis, performs analytical studies on a variety of policies, programs and issues.
Demonstrated teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with and gain the cooperation of colleagues across the organization; strong verbal and writing skills.
Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality of privileged information, and perform a wide range of duties that require tact, sensitivity, independent judgement, diplomacy, organizational skills, flexibility and discretion.
Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
Solid ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a member of a team.
Demonstrated skills to effectively communicate with and support a wide variety of people of diverse backgrounds, including and understanding and respect for cultural, ethic and individual differences.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in support of accommodation and leave requests and/or related area and/or training.
Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of public higher education, organizational structures, operations, programs, and policies.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary: The recommended hiring range is $29.94 to $34.83. Commensurate with experience.
