The Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics and the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor tenure-track position to teach and conduct research in Health Informatics. This position is part of the newly established Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics, whose goals are to conduct research and develop top-quality informatics programs to serve the entire University and the community. The academic appointment will be in the Graduate Nursing Department.
Candidates should show evidence of exceptional research promise and are expected to contribute to building a nationally and internationally recognized research group, develop a research program, and provide leadership in the formation of a new informatics program, including developing and teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Ideal candidates will have a broad understanding and interest in interdisciplinary studies and demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their research, teaching, and service.
The individual will be an integral part of the Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics and will increase the visibility of the Center and profession through research, teaching, national relationship building, collaboration, and network; Teach and develop courses related to healthcare data analytics, consumer health informatics, health information management, health information technology, and research; Contribute to building a nationally and internationally recognized research group; Establish an independent research program evidenced by publications and external research funding; Develop and maintain academic courses based on industry needs and accreditation requirements; Participate in marketing efforts to support the visibility and reputation of the Center. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff on courses, research, and special projects. This individual will report to the Executive Director and Co-Director of the Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics, and for the faculty role to the Chair of the Graduate Nursing Program. The individual will contribute to and participate in fostering a culture of inclusion in support of college diversity goals.
1.Phd/Doctorate or Master's degree in Health Informatics or related field, and currently enrolled in a doctoral program with a completion date within six months of hire. 2.Experience in health informatics or health information management. 3.An active member of national and state health informatics or Health Informatics and Information Management associations and/or active in eHealth initiatives. 4.Experience in research design and research methods with a demonstrated ability to publish research findings. 5.A record of teaching with demonstrated innovative approaches. 6.Ability to work and teach in an interprofessional environment. 7.Evidence of cultural competence and demonstrated success working with diverse populations is required.
Registered Nurse strongly preferred, Licensed health professional; Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA®) Certification
