CHEMISTRY: Introductory Chemistry

Part-time Lecturer (non-tenure-track)

The Tufts University Department of Chemistry is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach our undergraduate Introductory Chemistry I course in Spring 2021.

The instructor is responsible for three 50-minute lectures, holding once weekly meetings with teaching assistants, holding weekly office hours for students, and for student assessment, including preparation of exams and homework and overseeing and coordinating grading with the help of teaching assistants.   All lectures, meetings, and office hours will be conducted remotely via Zoom. Previously recorded content will be available for use. Teaching assistants will run remote recitation sections and in-person lab exercises. Given the nature of the class, on-campus presence is not required for the course instructor.

The first day of classes this spring will be February 1, 2021.

Qualifications

A strong understanding of general chemistry is required. A Ph.D. in Chemistry is preferred.  Additional qualifications include prior teaching experience and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. 

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working closely with talented students and who possesses the ability to explain concepts in Introductory Chemistry to students with diverse educational backgrounds.
