Applications are solicited for an individual to be appointed as a postdoctoral associate under the supervision of Mark E. Tuckerman. The research will focus on the creation of adaptive force matching strategies for organic molecular crystals. Specifically, the aim is to develop a scheme to use mixed quantum-mechanical/molecular-mechanical calculations to create molecule-specific force fields for subsequent use in crystal-structure prediction algorithms. The work will be funded under a grant from New York University's Research Challenge Fund.
The terms of employment which would for three months. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates will be considered until the position is filled.
Successful applicants will be highly motivated with an interest in working in theoretical and computational chemistry and must hold a Ph.D. degree in a related field. The ideal candidate will have research experience in electronic structure methods and molecular dynamics simulations. Additional background in force field development, quantum-chemical calculations, and molecular crystals is desirable.
To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter summarizing research experience and specifying the interests in this position; a curriculum vitae (including a full list of publications); a statement of research interests; and two letters of reference.
