The Yu Lab in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care, is recruiting for an Assistant or Associate Specialist. Salary will be commensurate with level of experience.
The Yu laboratory utilizes mouse models and translational human studies to investigate inflammatory lung diseases such as Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Our ongoing research projects include acute and chronic infection models with Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, novel nanoparticle delivery of CF antimicrobials and mucolytics, and evaluation of platelet-mediated inflammation in CF lung and pancreatic disease. The lab has expertise in advanced imaging techniques such as 2-photon intravital lung and pancreatic microscopy.
Requirements: Specialists appointed in the Associate rank must have a Master’s degree or Ph.D. or 5-10 years of experience in the relevant specialization. Associate Specialists are expected to have a record of academic accomplishment, including contributions to published or in-press research in a scientific field and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service. Candidates must have expertise in one of the following areas: mouse models, recombinant DNA technology, PCR, or flow cytometry.
Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a Master of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a field related to Biomedicine or five years of experience in the relevant specialization. Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. Applicants must have obtained the degree requirement for the Specialist rank by the time of hire. Candidates must have expertise in one of the following areas: mouse models, recombinant DNA technology, PCR, or flow cytometry.
Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
