The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Department of Family Medicine- Saint Francis Residency Program seeks an outstanding candidate for the full time, non- tenure position of Program Director to lead their fully accredited residency program.
Major Duties and Responsibilities The Program Director will be responsible for overseeing the ongoing development of the residency program and maintaining compliance with policies and procedures to meet the requirements of the ACGME for continued accreditation.
The Program Director must: Demonstrate a strong interest in the education of residents, students, and fellows. Devote enough time to the educational program to fulfill supervisory and teaching responsibilities. Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas. Maintain clinical skills by providing direct patient care. Precept residents in the Family Medicine Clinic. Maintain an environment of inquiry and scholarship with an active research component. Regularly participate in organized clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs and didactic conferences. Encourage and support residents in scholarly activities. Demonstrate scholarship by previous publications, case reports, or other presentations at local/ regional/ national conferences and scientific society meetings. Commit to the development of the resident medical knowledge, clinical, technical, management skills and clinical judgment. Serve on the clinical competency committee and the program evaluation committee. Participate in activities that enhance professional growth and development.
MD or DO degree Successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency program in Family Medicine Current board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine Licensure to practice in the state of Tennessee and a federal DEA certificate
Departmental Preferences Prior specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience acceptable to the ACGME Family Medicine Review Committee. Experience with the academic publication process, scholarly activity, patient safety, and QI projects. Leadership in curriculum development, evaluation methodology, teaching, and mentoring residents.
