The New York University Abu Dhabi Water Research Center (NYUAD-WRC) is a newly established research cluster focused on improving the sustainability of desalination processes in the Arabian region. The NYUAD-WRC is seeking a Post-doctoral Associate to develop porous materials for water purification. This position will fall under the supervision of the NYUAD-WRC co-PI Ali Trabolsi, Associate Professor of Chemistry.
Candidates must hold a PhD in chemistry and will work on synthesis and characterization of organic ligands and their relative organic porous compounds. The aim of the project is to prepare and study new porous materials for water purification. Synthesis of such materials will include the use of solvothermal and Schlenk line techniques. The most common methods of characterization will be X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, surface area characterization, and additional techniques related to the specific function of the material. Candidates with relevant background in one or more of these tasks will be considered. A strong background in organic/inorganic and materials chemistry is a pre-requisite for being eligible for the position. Candidates with experience in membrane purification will laso be considered.
Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential.
