Keene State College welcomes applications for an Equity Education and Community Advocacy Director to provide the structure necessary to serve the Keene State College community as we work to operationalize our equity and diversity efforts. The Director is responsible for ensuring that students are adequately prepared to successfully navigate their future diverse work environments. The work done by the Director is foundational for academic excellence and assures that students are prepared to meet future demands and expectations. Working cross-departmentally and cross-divisionally, the Director will collaborate with senior administrators, directors, student leaders, staff, and faculty to create a campus environment that contributes positively to the overall student experience. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity, the Director prioritizes student success and development, has a strong commitment to diversity and equity, cultivates a culture of integrity and respect, and promotes student learning across all dimensions of the student experience.
â¢ A Master's degree and three years of related experience. â¢ Clearly articulated understanding of the potential impact that institutional factors can/do have on the persistence and academic success of U.S. racial minorities, immigrant, refugee, and international student populations. â¢ Demonstrated experience developing, facilitating, and evaluating diversity, equity and inclusion, equity education, and culturally responsive practices workshops; professional development and peer education training; and train-the-trainer programs for students, staff, and faculty. â¢ Demonstrated experience developing diversity, equity, and inclusion informational resources for students. â¢ Demonstrated experience mentoring first-year students. â¢ Demonstrated experience building community. â¢ Demonstrated experience developing curriculum and teaching undergraduate courses. â¢ Demonstrated experience supervising, evaluating, and hiring staff. â¢ Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively with others. â¢ Demonstrated experience with strategic planning. â¢ Demonstrated experience assisting with recruitment and retention of students. â¢ Familiarity with models of effective dialogue. â¢ Demonstrated effective communication, organizational, planning, analytic, and problem resolution abilities. â¢ Proficient in the use of personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets and database software, and management information systems used in enrollment management and student affairs administration. â¢ Knowledgeable of innovative and successful equitable policies, procedures and practices within higher education in order to maximize the potential of diversity. â¢ Demonstrated capacity to maintain a high level of confidentiality. â¢ Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners. â¢ Demonstrated record of having a genuine interest in working with students. â¢ Demonstrated capacity of being sensitive to the understanding of a diverse and multicultural community. â¢ Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver professional presentations, explain complex ideas to diverse audiences, build consensus, and influence decision-making.
