Teach Elementary Teacher Education courses. The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that include but are not limited to mathematics and methods in other areas consistent with academic preparation and departmental needs.
Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media primarily on the Winona campus, but assignments may include teaching in areas schools and in online/hybrid formats commensurate with department, collegiate, and university needs.
Teach elementary mathematics methods and other methods courses.
Work closely with area school districts in a clinical experience model, including, but not limited to planning for guided clinical experiences, aligning district and teacher licensing goals, and possible delivery of coursework at district sites.
Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
Contribute to student growth and development including student advising, participation in student assistance planning, and review of student teaching materials and resumes.
Support Winona State University’s mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve. Provide service to the university and community including the program, department, college, university and greater community.
Assist with regular reporting and updating of programmatic accreditation and program licensing documentation required by the MN teacher licensing board.
Supervise field experiences and/or student teachers.
Maintain a 12-credit teaching load per semester.
Earned doctorate in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction or other closely related doctoral program OR candidates who will complete their doctorate within one year of being hired.
Minimum of 3 – 5 years classroom teaching experience within the scope of the license (K-6).
Completed doctorate in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or other closely related doctoral program.
Preference will be given to persons who have experience teaching elementary methods courses including: Mathematics and another curricular area.
Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
Experience with culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
Experience with continuous progress monitoring systems, curriculum-based assessment, or response to intervention initiatives.
Advanced coursework in mathematics.
Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
