The Division of Experimental Medicine (experimentalmedicine.ucsf.edu) at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a Director for the Core Immunology Lab (coreimmunology.ucsf.edu), a fee-for-service laboratory housed within the Division. The Director should have an extensive background in infectious diseases and immunology who is excited to join our vibrant and collaborative discovery research community. The incumbent will be the leader of the Core Immunology Lab, with a dual focus on developing and sustaining collaborative research partnerships and provide direction to the day-to-day research operations. Further, this candidate will provide direct oversight and management to the daily operations, including strategic planning, financial management, staff planning, and close collaboration with the University Research Resource Program. The incumbent will supervise two or more employees and will be responsible for full oversight for staffing, performance management, and daily operations.
Candidates are expected to hold an MD, PhD, MD/PhD (or equivalent), to have demonstrated significant research accomplishments or the potential to lead a state-of-the-art research program at the time of hire, be committed to the mentorship of trainees – particularly students from groups that are underrepresented in biomedical science. Further, the incumbent will have extensive experience with assay development, flow cytometry, and other immunologic research methods. Preferred qualifications also include: a track record of independent research, Principal Investigator for a grant, history of potential to develop a sustained source of research funding, and experience leading a fee-for-service laboratory.
