Carnegie Mellon is seeking an experienced molecular biologist with expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology, immunology, and microbiology techniques; cell and tissue culture, animal handling, and fluorescent imaging.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Employ the latest recombinant DNA techniques to engineer cells and animal models. Recombinant virus construction, SNP typing, gene cloning, transfection, transduction, PCR, DNA & RNA isolation, cDNA preparation, qPCR and DNA sequencing, fluorescence spectrophotometer, electrophoresis, Western blotting, Crispr-Cas9, immunoprecipitation (IP), and co-IP.
Application of multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA, bioplex, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, in vivo imaging and image stream to address molecular biology and immunological problems.
Cell and tissue culture, PBMC isolation, primary B-cell isolation and culture, stable cell line establishment.
Virus production, Mycobacterium culture, drug screening assays.
Animal tumor models (melanoma, colon and renal), ip injection, iv injection, and sc injection, tail blood withdrawal, survival surgery and tumor development in SCID mice transfection, and stable cell preparation.
Primer designing, Corel Draw, Graph Pad Prism, Cell Quest, FlowJo, End Note, Zeiss LSM browser, Image J, and Quantity one, basic bioinformatics tools.
Design and execute experiments, data collection, preparation of manuscripts, and presentations.
Preparation of grant proposals and budget management.
PhD in Molecular Biology and/or Immunology.
Ph.D. degree with 5+ years of research experience in academia and/or industry.
A proven track record of accomplishment in the research field: publications, patents, conference presentations.
A strong track record of working in collaboration with partners from different organizations and scientific expertise.
Experienced in the following areas is highly desirable: animal handling, microbiology, cell and tissue culture, immunology, fluorescence imaging, biochemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics.
