There is an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate in the Molecular Science and Engineering Lab (http://railab.che.msstate.edu/) in the Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering directed by Dr. Neeraj Rai. The successful candidate will model solution phase heterogeneous catalytic process for biomass conversion. The systems of interest are hierarchical zeolites, and transition metal catalysts. This position also requires writing manuscripts, reports, and presentations; mentoring junior researchers (graduate and undergraduate students) in the group; and participate in group and project meetings.
The Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering is housed in a state-of-the-art building dedicated to Chemical and Petroleum Engineering. The School currently enrolls over 500 undergraduate and graduate students with approximately 450 in undergraduate chemical engineering and 80 in petroleum engineering. Currently 16 members comprise the faculty with 4 dedicated to delivering the petroleum engineering curriculum and two serving administratively in the Swalm School (as Director) and the Bagely College of Engineering (as Dean).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Model solution phase heterogeneous catalytic process for biomass conversion 2. Write manuscripts, reports, and presentations. 3. Mentor junior researchers (graduate and undergraduate students). 4. Participate in group and project meetings.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or a related discipline. Experience is required in periodic density functional calculation using codes such (CP2K, VASP, etc.). The successful applicant is also expected to have programming experience.
