SUNY Cortland is establishing a pool of applicants for potential part-time temporary professional staff and sport club coach positions. Applicants must meet required qualifications for position to be considered.
Cortland Recreational Sports provides a variety of recreational opportunities that contribute to the physical, emotional and social health of all members of our College community. We continuously develop programs and activities for our participants to increase their positive use of leisure time, improve their quality of life and encourage them to commit to a lifetime of fitness and recreation participation.
Sport Clubs offer members of the SUNY Cortland community the opportunity to further their common interest, knowledge and skill in an activity through participation and/or competition. These interests can be competitive, recreational, or instructional in nature. Clubs may represent the university in intercollegiate competition or conduct activities such as practice, instruction, and social and tournament play. Sport Clubs are meant to be a learning experience for the members through their involvement in fundraising, community service, organization, administration, as well as developing skills in their sport.
Sport club coaches demonstrate knowledge about all aspects of the sport they coach; provide instruction, guidance and supervision for club members; assist with developing and improving skills of players; assist with enforcement of risk management polices and create/enforce safety procedures; enforce conduct standards, rules, and regulations; coordinate practices and games; and promote good sportsmanship.
Instructional staff teach and provide supervision for group exercise classes.
Sport Club coaches must be knowledgeable about all aspects of the sport they coach; and have demonstrated prior coaching experience.
Instructors must be knowledgeable about the discipline they teach and have demonstrated prior teaching experience.
Sport Club coaches with at least one year of coaching experience.
Instructors with at least one year of teaching experience.
