1. Ordering and Accessioning Leadership* Hires, trains, evaluates, and mentors Clerical & Technical staff in the Monographic Ordering and Copy Cataloging Unit within the Monographic Processing Services area.* In response to user needs, leads unit process and workflow changes taking into account related departmental and organizational activities.* Assesses ordering activity throughout the library. In collaboration with the Director of Monographic Processing Services, develops best practices, policies, and procedures for effectively stewarding the procurement of collection materials.* Provides guidance and expertise for print monograph accession operations and individual e-book acquisitions throughout the library. Works closely and collegially with library stakeholders and the Director of Monographic Processing Services to develop best practices, policies, and procedures for effectively stewarding the accession and copy cataloging of print monographic materials.* Makes recommendations for staffing needs and the levels of expertise needed for ordering units.2. Approval Plan Expertise* Serves as the library's point of contact for major U.S., Canadian, and European approval plan vendors. Coordinates with subject specialists (selectors, curators, et al) on the development of approval plan profiles. Communicates with selectors and vendors about desired changes to approval plans. Monitors technical specifications for shelf-ready processing.* Ensures that vendors adhere to profiles. Works closely with subject specialists and the Manager of the Monograph Support Team to monitor approval plan activity. Identifies reasons for duplication against other plans and orders, making appropriate adjustments to avoid further duplication.* Works closely with the Director of Monographic Processing Services and the Director of Collection Development to develop best practices, policies, procedures, and documentation related to approval plans and approval plan materials.3. May be required to assist in disaster recovery efforts.4. Year-end vacation restrictions apply.
