Professor Jennifer Chatman's research lab at University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business is hiring a lab manager who will oversee the day-to-day general operations research conducted by Professor Jennifer Chatman and her collaborators (e.g., faculty, students, post docs).
The lab manager would be involved in behavioral research. All aspects of this research involve an extremely professional demeanor while working with research participants and collaborators from diverse backgrounds and being extremely meticulous in data collection and analysis. Administrative duties include liaising with finance, human resources, IT, and facilities to meet the day-to-day needs of the research lab.
Manages the personnel, timelines, logistics, and data collection for research studies of many different kinds and oversees undergraduate research assistants as they run studies. The lab manager will spend the first month receiving extensive training to learn how to conduct behavioral research and will be expected to oversee behavioral studies after training is complete.
Collaborates across a diverse array of faculty, graduate students, research assistants, and staff to manage the portfolio of research projects and communication flow with Professor Chatman.
Hiring, coordinating and working with many part time research (student) assistants. The lab manager would determine the projects and responsibilities of each of the research assistants and work with Faculty and their graduate students to make sure all research needs are met
Run regular lab meetings to develop research assistant skills and provide guidance on tasks
Embody the principle of beyond yourself by supporting a diverse and inclusive working environment amongst lab members
Prepares and analyzes research data using SPSS and R. The lab manager will serve as the 'expert' on how to use Qualtrics, SPSS, and R and will train research assistants on these programs. The lab manager will question the status quo and promote continual innovation and improvement in lab processes by proposing new research methods and software as appropriate.

Attends MORS colloquium, journal club, and/or other research events to build research expertise and connections with faculty and graduate students
Attend any relevant campus training courses or classes to gain knowledge and be more proficient with campus policies and role-relevant skills
Overall, seek training to allow position to grow and develop professionally.
Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn common campus-specific and other computer application programs (PowerPoint, Excel).
Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.
Solid ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
Working skills to analyze information and synthesize large amounts of data using SPSS or R with strong attention to detail.
Experience running experiments of all kinds in the lab and field.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Salary & Benefits
This is a non-exempt, biweekly paid position. Hourly pay will be commensurate with experience up to $26.50.
