Postdoctoral research position: Molecular Mechanisms of Obesity and Insulin Resistance in Humans, Dept of ETOX at UC Davis
A postdoctoral scholar position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Michele A. La Merrill in the Environmental Toxicology department at the University of California at Davis http://lamerrill.ucdavis.edu/. The multi-disciplinary translational research project investigates the role of gene x environment interactions underlying the regulation of gene expression in biopsied human adipose tissue and primary human adipocytes. This area of our research is currently supported by NIH grants to mechanistically evaluate the causes and treatment of obesity and insulin resistance in humans.
The scholar will utilize cell and molecular biology techniques such as gene editing to complete this research. While collaborators are positioned to handle library preparations and the analysis of next generation sequencing integrated with the metabolome and exposome, opportunities for genomics research are also an option in this position.
