We are searching for an experienced Animation Instructors - Part-Time at our Santa Maria Campus facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Position: Allan Hancock College seeks a part-time faculty member in 2D and 3D Animation. The ideal candidate will share Hancock's' commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.
This position is a pool position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available. The District maintains a pool of applications for positions which are needed on an ongoing basis. The advantage of pool positions is when a position becomes available, the Dean may immediately begin screening applications from the available pool of applicants without having to post a position and wait while the position is being advertised. Your application for this position will be kept current for a period of three years.
Applicants should have an extensive knowledge of art and animation production (digital and traditional is ideal) as well as history of art and animation. Traditional artistic background and experience in storyboard production and application for diverse multimedia and animation projects. Courses could be on-ground and online.
Lecture Rate: $48.00 to $73.50 per hour depending upon education and experience
Lab Rate: $41.80 to $64.00 per hour depending upon education and experience
Activity and Non-Classroom Rate: $30.89 to $48.21 per hour depending upon education and experience

The ideal candidate will be proficient in animation techniques as well as the technical side of the production process; and maintain expertise in current technologies and techniques.
Candidates with previous college-level teaching experience and/or strong industry experience will receive special consideration. Experience with remote teaching is also a plus.
1. Teach the beginning/ intermediate 2D animation course using traditional animation tools and processes and/or.*
2. Teach a 3D modeling and animation course using Autodesk Maya
3. Assist in keeping the curriculum updated and current with industry standards
4. Consult with students during scheduled office and lab hours
5. *Seeking candidates that ideally poses both traditional and digital backgrounds.
Standard duties expected of all part-time faculty include the performance of instructional duties as assigned; evaluation and assessment of student work; and timely submission of grades. In addition, part-time faculty are expected to participate in the assessment of their performance, including administrative and student evaluations. Part-time faculty may also have opportunities to participate in various campus and staff development activities and are encouraged to be involved in the larger college community. Part-time faculty are be eligible to receive additional pay for office hours, additional assignments, and professional development activities.

PrProfessional experience includes experience working either as a freelance 3D animator/modeler artist or in a studio.
