The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) invites nominations and applications for the inaugural position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Women’s Health Services, Betty Irene Moore Women’s Hospital (BIMWH). The Chief Medical Officer serves the role as a key liaison between UCSF Health and the clinical programs within the Women’s Hospital. Along with the President Adult Services, UCSF Health, VP for Women’s Health, Chair, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, VP Strategy for Women’s and Children’s, and UCSF Health, the CMO plays a key role in strategic planning, program development, and clinical program integration.
The CMO of Women’s Health will report to the President of UCSF Adult Services and the Chief Clinical Officer of UCSF Health, and serve as a valued member in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences as the Vice Chair for Quality and Safety. They will partner with the VP for Women’s Health, Department chair, Division Chiefs, Executive Directors and other relevant stakeholders to provide medical oversight and support of professional and technical women's health services amounting to over 3000 deliveries, 140K outpatient visits and more than $170M in net operating revenues with a workforce of over 700 FTEs. Leadership in UCSF Health and Women's Health strategic initiatives will be required.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated understanding and knowledge of local and national quality and safety regulations, standards and trends general to health care and specifically to women's health, and an understanding of hospital operations. An ability to drive results coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated business acumen are also required.
Successful candidates will have earned an MD or DO, have 5-10 years of progressive management experience in an academic medical center or large healthcare system, and be eligible for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology or an Ob-Gyn subspecialty.
