This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week.
The BSBA Career Coach is an integral member of the Weston Career Center team that serves as a four-year career advisor for undergraduate business degree candidates, to second majors and minors and works with Olin and university students and student organizations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as 1-on-1 career advisor and subject matter expert to approximately 170-200 BSBA degree candidates.
Building and developing relationships with students to (a) understand their career needs and (b) steward them through the career preparation process.
Determine additional resources are required for each student and guide them to other resources, within WCC and beyond, to prepare them for technical aspects of interviews (industry directors, specialist coaches, platform leads, etc.).
Identify individual needs, goals, challenges for career path.
Review each student skills and abilities, determine and develop tailored action plans to help students on career journey (identifying interests, gaining skills capabilities, networking, etc.).
Analyze student self-assessments and translate them into actionable insight & next steps.
Determine other skills, etc., required to ensure students are ready, and deliver actionable feedback on students’ career and preparation process.
Provide recommendations regarding students’ readiness for interviews with employers.
Facilitate career development content in Mgt 201, Management Communications including, but not limited to, activity design, assignment evaluation and partnering with faculty and academic advisors to deliver content
Partner with academic advisors of personal or career issues that may affect assigned students’ academic journey.
Inform industry directors /specialized coaches of unique or technical needs and challenges of assigned students advising and leadership initiatives.
General academic, program, and university support including, but not limited to, assisting with program initiatives, limited presentations and other university wide initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree plus one year of work experience (including part time graduate assistantship) in higher education setting or related role.
Five years of work experience in higher education setting, business or a related role.
Master’s degree in higher education, business, or in a related field.
Experience with coaching experienced professionals on career transition.
Knowledge of the labor and job market and current trends.
Experience working with creating online career content.
Commitment to designing and delivering excellent career development and advising services.
Strong interpersonal skills, strong relationship building skills.
Ability to work in a matrix organization across/within groups.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
Willingness to travel up to 15% of time both domestically and internationally.
The hiring range for this position is $44,987 - $57,369 annually.
