Responsible for the operation, enhancement, and upgrades to the Central Heating Power Plant, Campus District Heating High-Temperature Honeywell and Automated Logic Control (ALC) computer-based, campus-wide building automation system (BAS), and the training of Oakland University personnel that interface with these systems and sub-systems. Also provides an analysis of heating, cooling, and ventilating needs and usage; develops solutions, and establishes user-friendly BAS and temperature control enhancements.
Associate’s or Technical Degree in HVAC and/or computer programming or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Minimum of six years of experience with HVAC/heat power plant systems.
Minimum of four years of technical building automation system programming experience.
Minimum of 2 years of staff and budget management experience.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
The job duties require an employee to bend, reach, stoop, stand and/or walk for extended periods.
Some jobs require an employee to be exposed to hazardous work environments.
Some jobs require an employee to work outdoors as well as in an office or a laboratory.
Experience with high-temperature hot water boilers and electric turbines.
Experience with ABB, Allen Bradley, or Industrial Controls and Boiler/Power Plant Automation Controls. Management, Accounting, or similar degree.
Considerable knowledge of ASME standards and codes and environmental regulations.
Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions related to High-Temperature Hot Water plant operations.
Considerable knowledge of labor relations and applicable union contracts
