The goal of the Schneider lab is to understand how sensory, motor and learning systems within the brain interact to store memories about the past and make predictions about the future, using both ethological and engineered behavioral paradigms. We use engineered behaviors performed in augmented reality to teach mice that simple actions have simple sensory consequences, and we study how the brain changes as mice learn these simple associations. We also study more complex, natural behaviors such as vocalizing and walking to understand how the brain's sensory-motor circuits exchange information in real-world contexts. The Schneider Laboratory is in the Center for Neural Science at New York University's Washington Square campus which, along with the Neuroscience Institute, is part of NYU's broader neuroscience community. We provide competitive salary and support and a commitment to helping our trainees advance their careers. To learn more about our lab, visit our website (http://www.schneiderlaboratory.com/).
