Warren Wilson College is currently accepting applications for the Access Controls Supervisor position, a unique role which requires both professional locksmith/security access experience and a demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor student workers in a manner that motivates and encourages their personal and professional growth. This position oversees campus wide rekeying and security access projects on our campus, and the supervision and training of student workers to assist in this capacity. Ideal candidates will have extensive professional experience in an access controls position, previous supervision experience and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with various constituents, and engage effectively with diverse populations and personalities in a college setting. This position is a benefit eligible, full time, exempt position, scheduled to work 40 hours per week, with some irregular working hours.

Provides technical coordination and client liaison in the implementation of major and minor campus rekeying and access security upgrade projects. Creates customer security solutions in accordance with existing access control policies and key coding protocols, ensuring the continued integrity of the College's master key program. Provides technical guidance, oversight and leadership to student work crew members.
The Access Control Supervisor has responsibility for the maintenance of door hardware, locks (electronic & manual) on campus buildings and structures, which includes teaching student crews the skills necessary to repair, maintain and install locks (electronic & manual) and door hardware (provides locksmith services for the campus) The Access Control Supervisor also maintains the master key system matrix, oversees the card key access program(s).
Access Controls and Key Systems
Provides on-site technical leadership and oversight to work crews in the execution of security upgrade repairs and projects.
Oversees and coordinates the activities of sub-contractors in the completion and execution of security upgrade repairs and projects.
Estimates scope and cost of access control upgrade projects, in direct consultation with the Office of Public Safety.
Selects and installs access security devices for facilities, adapting current keying systems and protocols, within the parameters of existing College resource protection policies and standards.
Applies current resource protection policies and protocols to the selection of appropriate electronic and/or mechanical access control devices.
Installs and/or oversees the installation, programming, and repair of electronic access controls, to include proximity card and swipe card hardware.
Creates and maintains keyway and pin charts and files, which form the foundation of College building security.
Advises as requested regarding technical options and strategies for maintaining and enhancing campus-wide building security
As directed, performs the work such as re-keying buildings, cutting and issuing keys, installation of hardware, and other tasks as needed.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Accesses, updates, and maintains Key and Electronic Access database.
Maintains college tools and equipment related to Access Control Crew including, but not limited to: vehicles(s), key machines, computers, devices, software, installation tools and inventory.
Works in conjunction with the Electrical Assistant Supervisor on card key system(s) maintenance and repairs
Position may be required to perform duties during non-traditional hours and be on-call for special situations and/or projects.
Student Crew Supervision
Assist the WPO (Work Program Office) with selection and recruitment of student crew members, and provide orientation and training for all student workers to support their professional and educational development.
Coordinate, communicate and monitor student work schedules, and approve student time cards by payroll schedule deadlines.
Maintain professional boundaries with student crew members.
Guide students through the learning and performance goals and evaluations process in a timely manner.
Attend WPO supervisor orientations and retreats, and collaborate with the staff of the WPO to problem solve any student crew issues that may arise.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Five years of experience working in an access control position.
One to two years of supervisory experience, demonstrating ability to effectively motivate and teach employees
