The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub is a one-of-a-kind non-profit research institute that brings together three powerhouse universities - Stanford, UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine. The Biohub supports over 100 of the brightest, boldest engineers, data scientists, and biomedical researchers in the Bay Area, with the mission of understanding the underlying mechanisms of disease, through the development of tools and technologies, and the application to therapeutics and diagnostics. Collaboration is central to what we do at the Biohub – both within and outside our walls.
As such, the Biohub seeks to recruit a Manager of Collaborations to facilitate collaborations in support of our mission.
The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub’s Manager of Collaborations will have primary responsibility for facilitating and operationalizing collaboration with investigators at our 3 partner universities, and key affiliates as well as other scientists and researchers globally. In accordance with our Master Collaboration Agreement, this role will provide critical oversight and coordination and will monitor and optimize all collaboration related processes and matters. The Manager, Collaborations will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Coordinating, tracking, and supporting collaborations with outside Collaborators
Coordinating Collaborator onboarding and offboarding – includes getting Visitor Agreements signed and tracking all collaboration end dates, etc.
Ensuring collaborators have access to necessary resources – technology, lab space, etc.
Developing, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures that ensure physical safety, data security and efficiency
Coordinating administrative details for investigators and investigator hires
Looking for ways to improve collaboration and lower costs
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
At least 2 years of experience in a management position
3-5 years’ experience in a similar or project manager role
Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
Strong personal and professional judgment
Problem-solving abilities that adapt to a variety of situations
Strong communication skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills – able to effectively communicate with sophisticated and senior level contacts
Ability to respond quickly to shifting circumstances and adjust and prioritize accordingly
Organizational skills and the flexibility to jump between projects and priorities
Familiarity with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, project management software(s)
