Dept Marketing Statement Uses professional accounting concepts. Under Supervision, completes accounting assignments for sponsored awards that are of moderate scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors and multiple sources. Job Duties 40%: Assess award documentation; collaborate with grants officers and accountants; conduct multi-step process for new award setup and firm commitments using campus financial information system (FIS), campus data management system, and Department recordkeeping system. Provide backup documentation using campus e-procurement and Financial Affairs systems.
35%: Conduct no cost time extensions, supplemental budget allocation and re-allocations using campus FIS and sponsored awards database (Cayuse). Provide backup documentation using campus e-procurement (CruzBuy) and data management system (InfoView). Maintain efficient organization and coordination of Department recordkeeping using various software programs for award log, award control sheets and electronic communication.
15%: Conduct multi-step process for closing out awards by collaborating to resolve issues, reconciling expenditure and budget figures, de-allocating budgets, and maintaining timely electronic documentation.
10%: Perform special projects and assignments, provide backup to EMF staff, maintain inventory of office supplies, and participate in training sessions.
Education: Associate degree in related area or Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Knowledge of accounting function, assignments and analytical procedures used in projects of moderate scope.
Ability to analyze problems in a systematic way and evaluate reasonable solutions before taking action.
Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing.
Working knowledge of financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Working knowledge of common desktop / web applications.
Ability to learn University, Federal and State Agency policies and procedures applicable to sponsored awards.
Ability to support and conduct business in consideration of University-wide Diversity and Inclusion Standards.
Effective skills to use various software programs, database and financial information systems.
