POSITION OVERVIEW Responsible for supervising the information technology staff in operations and service desk, ensuring delivery of IT operations services necessary for the college to conduct business and ensuring comprehensive support of all technology resources including data and voice networks, servers, networked laptop and desktop computers, and the service desk. The IT Operations Supervisor participates in developing the College’s technology plan.
Supervise and support the team providing technical support to the core IT infrastructure, datacenters, storage, private cloud, compute, telecommunication systems and networks.
Oversee activities of outsourced information security providers in a variety of functions, including incident and threat management.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Information Technology service desk.
Responsible for all 3rd party IT Operational vendor support and contracts.
Oversee the operations and maintenance of Dunwoody networks, servers, and telecommunication systems throughout the systems lifecycle from system acquisition and build-out to decommission and secure destruction.
Develop information technology operations department methodologies, policies, and procedures.
Plan for implementation of new technical projects.
Provide input on technical budgets, resource allocation, and determine schedules of project deadlines.
Evaluate new technologies and perform competitive analysis.
Operate and maintain systems according to Dunwoody change management procedures.
Manage documentation of IT standard operating procedures and network/system diagrams for the institution.
Ensure disaster recovery and business continuance of Dunwoody systems and applications are met.
Support IT infrastructure strategy and long-term planning based on institutional objectives.
Collaborate with IT Director, IT staff and other personnel as required to enhance IT services for the Dunwoody community.
Contribute to Dunwoody College of Technology team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of IT.
Establish a working knowledge of all other department functions as backup for absences and vacancies.
Ability to effectively relate to, communicate with, and meet the needs of internal business customers.
Solid understanding of current IT trends and issues with an in-depth knowledge of information security requirements.
Ability to clearly communicate technical aspects to a variety of audiences in a non-technical fashion.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring training, and coaching employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
Must be able to work full-time on the Minneapolis campus.
Associates degree in information technology or related field is required.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business information systems, or equivalent field is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT operations demonstrating progressively increasing responsibilities, including knowledge and work experience with several of the following technologies:
Microsoft, Linux, and Apple operating systems
Microsoft SQL Server
Network system installation, configuration, and analysis.
Demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple projects, support clear communications, and strong problem-solving abilities.
Minimum of two years demonstrated supervisory experience preferred.
Working knowledge of at least one common IT or information security compliance framework, e.g., NIST, ISO, PCI, GDPR, HIPAA, or similar.
